The Nihilists

Moimir Papalescu & The Nihilists are the officially crowned kings and queen of the Prague Underground music scene and definitely a phenomenon themselves. You will have hard work finding a band comparable and unique in appearance in the whole Czech Republic. Founded in 2003 they brought a totally new vibe to the Czech music scene after years of bore.

Czech Grammy award winners for best newcomers 2005 Moimir Papelescu and the Nihilists take decades worth of the vanguard of eastern European post punk and alternative rock music, creating a completely modern sound and providing a bridge between the Czech and western European electro-rock music scenes.

The band first appeared on the Czech music scene in Spring 2003 with their instant hit single, "Summer Deviation." Its refrain, REFRESH YOUR MIND was a much needed wake-up call to the stagnating Czech underground.

Not content with a one-hit revolution they are on their way to conquer not only europe. And by the time, with their new releases they've got a new anthem: HELP YOURSELF. WE ARE DEAD.

Their shows - featuring Sonja's seething vocals, Hank's manic howls, Moimir's fresh beats, Peter's sax-experiments, and Wratislaw's wild drumming - are famous for raw punk energy and massive electric sound. And, like the performances of the punk era, this one has visual energy too: the Nihilists put on a great stage show, the audience's eyes are riveted. Marc Almond of ‘Soft Cell Fame’ had this to say after seeing the band at its June 2005 Berlin concert: ’Fantastic! The best gig I've seen in the last five years...’
